Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have showcased their comedic chops in an ad shown during the Super Bowl LX, which was viewed by over 120 million Americans.

The commercial captured the Aussie couple in very different moods as they tested Amazon’s new Alexa+ AI assistant.

While Elsa, 49, appeared perfectly at ease with the futuristic home helper, Chris, 42, had a healthy dose of scepticism that quickly turned into comedic paranoia.

In the ad, the Thor star imagines the ways his AI assistant could orchestrate his premature demise.

‘It’s all buddy-buddy, then the next second it’s trying to kill us,’ a distressed Chris warns, as Elsa calmly looks on.

Alexa cheerily responds: ‘Now, Chris, how would I do that?’

What follows is a series of hilarious, over-the-top scenarios: Chris is crushed by his garage door after Alexa closes it on him, trapped underwater when the AI shuts the pool cover mid-swim, and even mauled by a bear after being sent outside.

‘[Just like that], you’re a widow,’ Chris warns, while Elsa deadpans: ‘Right.’

The ad, which aired in a prime-time Super Bowl slot, positions Elsa as the voice of reason, calmly dismissing her husband’s wild fears.

‘You’re crazy,’ she says, before heading off to a meeting Alexa had booked for her.

This latest ad continues the couple’s on-screen partnership, following earlier campaigns including a tourism spot for Visit Abu Dhabi – but in this outing, Chris proves that even superheroes can get nervous when the AI takes charge.

Earlier this month, Chris shared a glimpse into family life in Australia with Elsa and their three children.

The power couple, who married in 2010, share daughter India Rose, 13, and 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.

They relocated from the US in 2015 and now live in Byron Bay, a laid-back surf town just south of Australia’s Gold Coast.

Speaking in a new interview, Chris and Elsa opened up about their relaxed lifestyle Down Under.

Chris told PEOPLE: ‘We got a big plot of land, a farm with horses, and our kids surf and fish and ride motorbikes all day.’

Elsa added the lifestyle has been hugely beneficial for their family, saying: ‘It helps a lot, especially in the house with three kids.’

Chris also explained that the move has helped him prioritise family time, adding: ‘I can focus on the more important things – I can hang out with my kids, I can hang with my wife, and we can go and have fun.’

It comes after the actor opened up on his recent documentary about his dad’s battle with Alzheimer’s, calling the ‘deeply personal’ experience a ‘love letter to my father’.

The Hollywood star released A Road Trip To Remember last year, which followed him and his father Craig, 70, revisiting his childhood homes across Australia, following Craig’s diagnosis with early-stage Alzheimer’s.

It came as a follow-up to his 2022 docuseries Limitless, where the actor learned he had two copies of the APOE4 gene – one from each parent – meaning he was eight to ten times more likely to develop the same disease.

Opening up about releasing the emotional and heartfelt documentary in a new interview with The Guardian, Chris admitted that he struggled with the idea of going public with his innermost feelings.
