(NewsNation) — Former Vice President Mike Pence’s conservative advocacy group is calling on President Donald Trump to remove Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from office over his failure to conduct a safety review of what it calls the “dangerous” abortion pill mifepristone.
Pence’s group, the Advancing American Freedom Foundation, alleges that at his confirmation hearing, Kennedy Jr. promised to review safety protocols for the abortion pill, but has since failed to deliver.
“Promises were made. Data was ignored. safeguards were not reinstated. Oversight was blocked. This is not how a serious regulatory agency should operate,” the group posted on social media Monday. “RFK Jr. must go.”
In October, the FDA approved a generic version of mifepristone, a regulatory formality that quickly triggered pushback from anti-abortion groups and politicians aligned with the Trump administration.
“There’s no question that pro-life Americans played a key role in returning President Trump to the White House, last November.” Pence wrote in a statement. “Unfortunately, RFK has been unable or unwilling to deliver on his many promises to the pro-life movement – including a review of the dangerous chemical abortion pill that millions of pro-lifers consider the bare minimum for a pro-life administration.”
