Megyn Kelly is calling out CBS moderators for cutting JD Vance‘s mic during Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate.
The network didn’t rule out fact-checking the candidates but encouraged Donald Trump’s and Kamala Harris’ running mates to fact-check each other. At the top of the debate, CBS moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan could mute the mics to maintain decorum.
CBS exercised its right to mute the mics and silenced Vance when he sparred with Brennan over false claims he made about Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio.
Megyn Kelly was live posting on X during the debate and had an instant reaction when the moment happened.
“F you CBS — how DARE YOU,” the fired Today show host shared.
In a second post, she added, “Tried to face check. JD put you in your place. You WONT HIM FIGHT YOU AND YOU WONT LET THEM DEBATE.”
After Vance claimed migrants were coming to Springfield, Brennan said, “Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio, does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status.”
Vance fired back, saying, “The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact-check, and since you’re fact-checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on.”
Trump’s running mate started explaining the legal process, taking time off the debate. The CBS moderators tried to move the debate to discuss other topics, but Vance continued talking over them.
Vance’s mic was cut off, and Brennan said, “Gentlemen, the audience can’t hear you because your mics are cut. We have so much we want to get to.”
