Megan Thee Stallion will soon be heating up the small screen instead of the stage.
The three-time Grammy-winning musician took to Instagram earlier today to announce a feature-length documentary, due for release on Prime Video Oct. 31.
“Hotties,” Stallion, née Megan Pete, began, referencing the name her fans have adopted, “my documentary is out Oct 31st💜 I’m nervous and excited for yall to see it butttt it’s finally here 🥹.”
The post featured an image of the “Her” rapper and singer in a jeweled choker with full glam, looking off to the side as she was backlit by a spotlight. The doc, titled In Her Words, featured the sub-head “Her Story. Her Life.”
It’s no coincidence that Stallion’s documentary is coming out on Halloween: As superfans can attest, the holiday is among Stallion’s favorites, with the songwriter commemorating the event with pop-up concerts (this year’s in Chicago) and an annual posting of herself wearing a carved pumpkin on her head. Since her rise to the top of the charts, the spooky day has been lovingly dubbed “Hottieween.”
Per reports, the Amazon MGM Studios production tapped the Emmy-winning Nneka Onuorah (Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls) as director. The film promises an “unprecedented” look into the life of the “Mamushi” rapper and longtime mental health advocate. A logline reads: “Follow the Houston native’s journey on the road to stardom as she tenaciously navigates fame, grief, pressure and success. The documentary unpacks Megan’s most vulnerable moments in a powerful way that allows fans to meet the real Megan Pete.”
Recently, Stallion was part of Pepsi’s revival of the company’s “We Will Rock You” campaign — originated by Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Pink 20 years ago. The NFL season TV spot, featuring Stallion’s fresh take on the Queen classic alongside appearances by Lamorne Morris, Jake Lacy and Travis Kelce, was tied to the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed Gladiator II. She is also fresh off of hosting the 2024 VMAs and recently wrapped her first headlining concert tour.
