THE internet has gone crazy for the “world’s chonkiest cat” – a giant ginger boy named Bug.
The beloved “chonky” orange cat, is a widely famous pet-fluencer known and loved for being fat.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the Garfield look-alike, who shares an Instagram account with his feline sibling Cheddar.
Bug’s owners – who rescued him from a household that overfed him – said his personality “often shines through” his videos.
Due to Bug’s size, his weight is being constantly monitored by his vet to make sure he stays healthy.
He is currently on a controlled diet to help reduce his chonki-ness.
Despite reassurances from his owners, Bug’s weight has sparked online debate.
Some people love seeing Bug updates, with one person saying: “My cat is a chonk too, he has a health condition which means he’s not active – he’s also very very greedy!”
“If Garfield had unlimited lasagna,” another quipped.
A third fan said: “He looks as rotund as my cat, bless him”.
While some people thought Bug had been technologically enhanced, with one person even suggesting he “might just be AI”, others weren’t so happy to see just how chonky Bug was.
“I think they are mistaking the word ‘chonky’ for ‘morbidly obese'”, one person said.
“Good God, put him on a diet now!”, said another.
“How is that not animal abuse, the way it would be if the cat was skeletal through starvation?” One person questioned.
Despite the furore directed at his owners, Bug and his siblings have accumulated 64,000 followers on Instagram.
Bug, however, was not the first fat cat to turn heads on the internet.
The previously crowned “world’s fattest cat” Crumbs died in 2024.
The chunky pet tragically died just weeks after going to a feline fat camp to shed some weight.

Crumbs once tipped the scales at over 38lbs due to a dodgy diet of biscuits and soup – making him larger than a small toddler at his biggest.
The flabby cat, named Kroshik in his native Russia, was placed under special care at a veterinary diet centre in Perm so they could work on his weight.
But doctors say he suddenly became ill before his death was announced on social media through a touching post.
It said: “Kroshik passed away last night. This news echoes with a ringing emptiness in the heart.”
Animal rescuers first found Crumbs, so called because of his ability to hoover up all scraps of food, living in the basement of the hospital in Perm.
He’d been living on a diet of biscuits and soup, fed to him by well meaning rescuers.
It’s thought he found his way to the basement after being abandoned by his owners.
