Smoke billowed into the sky as flames tore through a tire shop in Riverside County early Monday morning.
The fire, reported shortly after 2 a.m. on the 25700 block of 2nd Street near Highway 74 in Menifee, was well-involved on the quarter-acre tire lot when fire crews arrived at the scene, Cal Fire posted on X.
“The fire has spread to one single-story residence adjacent to the facility,” officials stated in the post.
The massive blaze prompted calls for additional engines and a hazmat team to respond to the scene.
Power lines were also burned in the fire, prompting Southern California Edison crews to be called. The Red Cross was alerted to assist people who were displaced by the blaze.
There was no immediate word on a possible cause of the fire.
