The City of West Hollywood welcomed the reopening of Marix Tex Mex Café with open arms and long lines.
The popular local restaurant saw lines down the block hours before it started serving the general public at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
KTLA 5’s Kirk Hawkins is one of the many who are glad it’s back.
“That restaurant in particular, we were all concerned it would never reopen and it’s such an amazing spot. There’s a retractable roof, it’s a great place on weekends,” he explained on the KTLA 5 Morning News.
Staff informed Kirk that the hotspot is a haven for Hollywood nostalgia. During their days on “Friends,” actresses Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston were known to come by after a day of filming to unwind.
Marix closed its doors in 2020 as a casualty of the pandemic and officially reopened on July 8. The WeHo Times reports that the owners never officially announced the closure.
The eatery has the same menu it did in 2019, which includes their famous margaritas.
“It’s exciting to see it back in a huge way,” Kirk continued.
Marix is located at 1108 Flores St. in West Hollywood.
