PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) is looking for people who witnessed a car crash and catch fire last week to come forward with more information.
PWCPD said 21-year-old Ian Rambert of Manassas was driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI more than double the posted 35 MPH speed limit in the area of Lake Jackson Drive near Blandford Drive on Dec. 21.
At about 11:50 p.m. that night, he veered to the right and left the roadway, continuing into a field where it struck a utility pole. The collision caused his car to flip over several times and eventually catch fire.
Police said Rambert was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact PWCPD.
