A man is in custody after he allegedly committed a series of crimes early Saturday morning, resulting in a pursuit with police in Ventura.

According to the Ventura Police Department, a community member observed a man tampering with a neighbor’s vehicle at an apartment complex on the 6600 block of Thille Street.

When officers arrived, they found the man in the area riding a bicycle near Balboa Middle School. Officers attempted to stop him, but he fled on the bike.

This led to a pursuit for several minutes. Eventually on the 4700 block of Nielsen Street, an officer used a patrol car to block his path. The man rode into the car, and he fell off the bike.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Jacob Aydelotte, was then taken into custody.

Police said that at one point during the pursuit, Aydelotte threw 17 grams of fentanyl off of a bridge, and onto Highway 126.

He was arrested on suspicion of vehicle tampering, resisting or delaying an officer, possession for sale of a controlled substance, destruction or concealment of evidence and possession of a hard drug.

Aydelotte had six active warrants in Ventura County and one warrant in Santa Barbara County, in addition to the charges above.

No additional details were immediately made available. No injuries were reported in the pursuit.
