Surveillance video captured a thief ripping a register off the counter of a taco restaurant in Bellflower before running off with it Tuesday, and it’s not the first time the shop has been targeted.
Video of the incident provided by Tacos La Rueda shows two men walking around the restaurant while customers are ordering their food. Once they have left the counter and no one is looking, the man wearing a blue hoodie walks up to the counter and grabs hold of the cash register.
After ripping it off the counter, the man joins his accomplice outside the business and they both jump into a waiting getaway car.
The car appeared to be an older model, perhaps early ’90s, silver Mercedes-Benz S Class with a dent on the trunk and driver’s side.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station.
Tuesday’s crime is not the first to occur at the restaurant. In 2023, during the first weeks after its grand opening, Tacos La Rueda was robbed on two occasions.
The restaurant posted surveillance videos on Instagram after each incident.
Following Tuesday’s incident, the restaurant offered a positive message on its Instagram Stories post, “Let’s clean it up and keep going.”
