Police and firefighters in the San Fernando Valley were working to coax a man down from a power pole Tuesday after he climbed to dangerous heights near electrical lines.
Authorities responded to Gladstone Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard in Lake View Terrace around 5 p.m. on reports of the man on the utility pole.
Negotiators with the Los Angeles Police Department worked to talk the man down, though he continued to climb higher, approaching high tension power lines.
According to Gil Leyvas in Sky5, authorities requested the utility company cut power to the lines, which would also cut power to residents in the area while the man remains on the pole.
At around 6:15 p.m., crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department and LAPD left the scene while the man was still high up on the power pole.
