Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in South Los Angeles.

The victim was identified as Jose Martinez, 40, by the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Jan. 7, Martinez was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk near 53rd and Figueroa Streets at around 7:21 p.m.

That’s when a driver in a silver Porsche Cayenne driving north on Figueroa Street struck Martinez. The suspect continued speeding away and did not stop to check on the injured pedestrian.

Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police provided photos of the suspect’s SUV but the license plate was unavailable.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Flannery or Detective Moreno at 323-421-2500. The public can also call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
