MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A man is recovering in the hospital after he was burned in a fire in Silver Spring Tuesday night.
Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said around 10:15 p.m. on March 4, crews were called to the 12600 block of Billington Road after a fire broke out at a home.
He said when firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames pouring from the house, which was located off E Randolph Road, near Laurie Drive.

While crews battled the fire, they discovered flames spreading from the porch to the house.
Piringer said a man was burned while trying to put the fire out with a garden hose. Medics took him to the burn unit for treatment, and his condition is currently unknown.
About 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and none were injured.
According to Piringer, the fire was accidental, and an electrical malfunction around a ceiling fan, or wiring likely started the blaze.
The fire caused about $550,000 in damages and left two people displaced.
