A man was fatally stabbed in the chest during a fight in Orange County, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The fight happened in Orange early Friday morning, according to the O.C. Sheriff’s Department, in the area of Rancho Santiago Boulevard and Hewes Street.
Deputies responded at 1:24 a.m. to calls of several individuals screaming and fighting in the area and arrived to find what appeared to be a crime scene.
Dispatch soon learned that one man, identified as 24-year-old Sergio Esquivel Sanchez of Orange, had been stabbed in his chest and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide investigators then arrived at the crime scene and identified Melchor Aleszi, 20, of Tustin, as the suspect in the fatal stabbing.
Aleszi was then arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of homicide. Details on his arrest were not immediately provided.
