A man died after he was chased by a suspect, shot and then run over by a passing vehicle in the San Fernando Valley.

According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, officers responded to a shooting call in the 11600 block of Sherman Way around 8 p.m. Friday.

“The victim, described as a male Hispanic, was being chased by the suspect, also a male Hispanic,” the LAPD spokesperson said. “The suspect produced a firearm and struck the victim before fleeing from the scene.”

While the victim was on the ground, an unknown vehicle drove over him, the spokesperson added. The motorist did not stop and also fled the area.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name was not released.

Authorities could not comment on whether the incident was gang related and did not disclose any further details.

The address given by police is a Home Depot, and preliminary information indicates the shooting did occur in the Home Depot parking lot. Video posted to the Citizen App shows police officers interviewing witnesses and caution tape blocking off portions of the parking lot.
