A man who was attempting to steal a tire and a rim from a vehicle was arrested after he shot at the car owner’s husband.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, a shooting call came in around 12:30 a.m. in the 16000 block of Gledhill Street in L.A.’s North Hills neighborhood.
Arriving officers located a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound; he was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
“The victim reported seeing a vehicle approach his wife’s vehicle,” the LAPD spokesperson said. “He went outside to investigate and found the male suspect trying to steal a tire and rim from the vehicle.”
“The victim screamed, and the suspect shot him,” the spokesperson added.
After the shooting, the suspect, a man in his 40s, was said to have fled the area; however, police confirmed that he was later detained. Video footage taken by KTLA photojournalist Jose Alvarado shows a man in handcuffs being led by police to the back of a squad car.
No further details surrounding his identity or any possible charges he will face were released right away.
