A San Bernardino County man was arrested for elder abuse and vandalizing multiple residences, including that of a woman whose home he previously set on fire, authorities said.
Deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 18300 block of Valley Boulevard in Bloomington shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday, the S.B. County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release Monday.
The caller said the suspect, later identified as 53-year-old Ubaldo Gonzalez Romero, was using an unknown object to break windows.
Arriving deputies confirmed there were broken windows at multiple residences with damage valued at several thousand dollars.
Investigators said that one of the two victims, who are both over the age of 65, was previously targeted by Romero.
“In 2023, Romero set their residence on fire and was prosecuted for that incident,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
Romero was arrested and booked on suspicion of vandalism and elder abuse. He was being held on $30,000 bail.
