A man was arrested and charged with the alleged human trafficking of a 16-year-old girl in Orange County.

The suspect was identified as Donald Newton, 46, of Las Vegas, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

On May 30, police received a call reporting a teen girl who was being held against her will by an armed suspect.

Officers responded to a motel on the 700 block of S. Beach Boulevard in Anaheim where they located the victim and transported her to a safe location.

The suspect was not found on the property, although a loaded firearm was discovered in the room.

After identifying Newton as the primary suspect, around two hours later, detectives located him in Stanton where he was taken into custody.

Donald Newton, 46, of Las Vegas, is seen in a booking photo from the Anaheim Police Department.

He was later charged by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office with:

  • Pimping a minor over 16 years old
  • Pandering with a minor over 16 years old
  • Human trafficking of a minor
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Possession of ammunition by a prohibited person
  • Three counts of personal use of a firearm in a felony

Newton remains in custody on $500,000 bail. No further details, including how the suspect met the teen or how long she had been held against her will, were released.

If you or anyone you know has been a victim of human trafficking, you can contact the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 888-373-7888 or call your local law enforcement department.
