The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday that its Transit Services Bureau has arrested a man who threatened crew members on a Metro rail expansion project in Lawndale.
Daniel Doyle Scallion, 28, sent the threats electronically on Feb. 20, the department said in a news release.
“The anonymous email contained a direct and alarming statement, claiming that Metro employees would be ‘shot,'” the release explained. “In response, TSB detectives immediately launched an in-depth investigation to trace the source of the threat.”
Deputies did not detail how exactly they identified and located Scallion.
Scallion is due to appear in court on Friday and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Jail records show he is currently being housed at the Inmate Reception Center.
“This timely enforcement action highlights the hard work of TSB deputies and detectives and further speaks to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Metro employees, our ridership and members of the public,” said Capt. Shawn Kehoe.
