Employees at a Culver City restaurant endured a frightening ordeal when they tried to remove a disruptive man from the establishment, who then allegedly sexually assaulted two female workers earlier this month.
In a news release, officials at the Culver City Police Department said officers responded to the Feb. 10 incident in the 13400 block of Washington Boulevard just after 3 p.m.
After employees had attempted to remove the man from the restaurant, the suspect began harassing employees, jumping over the counter, entering the kitchen area and disrupting the business’ operation.
“The suspect was reported to be armed and threatening employees,” police said.
When the first officer arrived, he witnessed the man advancing aggressively on a female worker, backing her into a corner as she attempted to get away.
The placed himself between the suspect and the woman after the man failed to comply with his orders and was able to take him into custody.
Witnesses told police that while employees attempted to lock the suspect out of the restaurant, he grabbed one of the female employees and grabbed another after jumping over the counter.
The man was booked at the Culver City Jail on charges of sexual battery and is being held until his next court appearance, police said.
