A MAGISTRATE called Dr Delicate was rapped for desk banging, sighing and swearing in court.
Amy Delicate eyeballed someone in the room and grew “visibly frustrated” at the family court hearing, an investigation found.
Dr Delicate, a university researcher into childbirth and early childhood, made a “qualified apology” for her behaviour, which was ruled to be misconduct.
She told investigators her “stress and confusion” was caused by incomplete court papers and the late provision of legal advice.
The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said: “She suggested some of her actions may have been misinterpreted.”
A JP in the West Midlands for five years, she has now been given formal advice by a High Court judge.
Her behaviour caused embarrassment to court staff but did not affect the outcome of the hearing, they added.
She repeated her apology to The Sun but added: “I became a family magistrate to fulfil a civic duty and help protect vulnerable members of our society.
“I have never set out to upset, embarrass, or bias others in the Judiciary but reiterate that I apologise for any distress that others feel I caused.”
But she added: “As a magistrate with disabilities and family commitments, unfortunately support and adjustments have been very limited to enable me to sit as a magistrate, and take part in this disciplinary procedure safely and effectively.
“I will take time to reflect on the formal advice and my experiences before deciding on my future as a magistrate.”
