MOTORISTS have been hit with huge delays after a car flipped in a crash on the M62.
Two lanes are shut on the M62 westbound carriageway, at junction 11 for Birchwood, following a collision.
It has been reported that a car was “left overturned” in the crash, according to National Highways.
However, it is not known whether anyone was hurt in the incident, which happened in the early hours of the morning.
Motorists have been backed up for miles on the westbound carriage way due to the lane closures.
The incident has sparked massive delays with many frustrated commuters heading to work brought to a standstill.
Police are working at the scene and queues are building up in the area.
National Highways said there was 1.5 miles of congestion approaching scene.
In a full statement, National Highways said: “#M62 westbound within J11 (#Warrington #Birchwood) #Cheshire LANES CLOSED/
“2 lanes (of 4) closed following an earlier collision resulting in an overturned car.
” Police investigation underway. 1.5 miles of congestion approaching scene.”
The lanes are expected to be shut for several hours.
