THE M1 is closed after a serious crash with drivers warned of long delays on Boxing Day.
All four lanes of the motorway in Derbyshire were closed southbound this morning between Junction 29 and Junction 28.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the crash with both police and the fire and rescue service in attendance.
National Highways warned drivers of 30 minute delays and around four miles of congestion upon approach.
Currently one lane of four remains closed with recovery en-route, they added.
A spokesperson said earlier this morning: “Traffic is currently held on the M1 southbound between J29 at Chesterfield and J28 at Mansifled to allow Derbyshire Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to work at the scene of the collision.”
Derbyshire Police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue have been contacted for comment.
It comes as the worst times to travel and roads to avoid have been revealed with drivers warned to expect a surge in post-Christmas Day traffic.
The AA estimated 19.7 million car journeys will be made across the UK on Boxing Day, with 22 million on Saturday as people take to the roads to visit loved ones or go shopping.
Traffic levels are expected to be highest between 10am and 7pm, so drivers are being urged to set off outside that period if possible.
