LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said a deputy was arrested Sunday for having sex with an inmate.
According to LCSO, Deputy Mason Zimmerman was arrested for carnal knowledge of a person detained or arrested by a law enforcement officer, or an inmate, which is a class 6 felony.
The sheriff’s office said the incident happened at the detention center with a female inmate.
Zimmerman, who was hired as a correctional deputy in 2016, was then taken to the Alexandria City Detention Center where he was arraigned Monday and “immediately terminated.”
His bond hearing is being held on Tuesday.
The investigation is still ongoing.
