LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – With the immediate threat of the deadly Palisades and Eaton wildfires over, attention now turns to the seemingly immeasurable cost of the recovery.
“This turns into a money story,” says KTLA consumer reporter David Lazarus. “And that story is going to last for decades.”
Lazarus says insurance companies are not equipped to handle the volume and vast scope of the damage claims. There are also heavy costs associated with rebuilding public infrastructure and schools, meeting the ongoing needs of displaced residents, and health impacts.
Lazarus discussed these issues on KTLA 5 News at 11.
