On Saturday afternoon, officers arrested a man suspected of burglarizing six businesses in Los Angeles County between Jan. 2-4, according to the Claremont Police Department (CPD).
Within the nighttime hours of those two days, the man, identified as 30-year-old Hector Bernal of Covina, allegedly hit four businesses in the 800-900 block of West Foothill Boulevard and two in the 700 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard.
CPD detectives and officers connected information from investigating each burglary, ultimately leading them to a local hotel in Claremont where Bernal was staying.
On Saturday, detectives conducted surveillance at the hotel from an unknown time until around 12:50 p.m. when they saw Bernal leaving the property with a woman.
Officials arrested Bernal without incident for six counts of commercial burglary, grand theft, theft with priors and possession of stolen property.
CPD said the woman, identified as 28-year-old Alexis Tinoco of Upland, was also arrested for possession of stolen property. Officials transported both Bernal and Tinoco to the CPD Jail for booking.
The department said detectives then executed a search warrant at Bernal and Tinoco’s hotel room and found additional stolen property inside.
According to CPD, the items included stolen property that belonged to the Claremont victims Bernal allegedly burglarized within the prior 48 hours.
Officials said Bernal was to be held at the CPD Jail pending his court appearance at the Pomona Courthouse on Jan. 7 at 8 a.m. Meanwhile, Tinoco was released on a written promise to appear.
