Los Angeles-based water company CEO takes $1 salary to help wildfire victims

The CEO of a Los Angeles-based company that sells sparkling non-alcoholic hop water is dropping his salary to just one dollar in an effort to help wildfire victims.

Jordan Bass, CEO of HOPWTR, said on social media that the City of Angels is incredibly important to the company, as its headquarters and most of their employees are in L.A.

Bass and his family were forced to evacuate due to the Palisades Fire, as were most of the HOPWTR team, and while the majority of their workforce is safe, others have been seriously impacted.

Thus, the CEO has taken a $1 salary so that the funds that would have originally gone to him can go to team members who need it as well as All Hands and Hearts, a disaster relief organization that provides clean drinking water to victims and first responders. HOPWTR has already delivered more than 10,000 cans to the front lines, fire stations and donation centers.

“We’re going to keep the water flowing as long as it’s needed and as long as we can,” Bass said in a video posted on LinkedIn. “We want to do everything we can to rebuild and get back to normal.”
