A woman whose vehicle was hit by a speeding driver in Long Beach has died almost a month after the crash, police said.
At about 8:30 a.m. on March 8, a 2022 Chrysler 300 “traveling at a high rate of speed” southbound on Atlantic Avenue hit a 2010 Pontiac G6 that was headed north on Atlantic and turning west onto Harding Street, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.
The crash sent both vehicles into the southwest corner of the intersection, and the Chrysler hit a cinderblock wall.
Both drivers were hospitalized, but on Sunday, the LBPD learned that the driver of the Pontiac, a 58-year-old Long Beach woman named Kay Lynn Dehorney, succumbed to her injuries.
The identity of the Chrysler driver has not been made public.
The crash remains under investigation, and police said “speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision.”
