President-elect Trump will become the nation’s 47th president on Monday, only the second man in the nation’s history to return to the Oval Office after a hiatus.
His inauguration is sure to usher in a flurry of actions that will unwind rules and standards set in the intervening President Biden era. He is planning to sign a handful of executive orders right after Monday’s ceremony.
Trump arrived at church services in Lafayette Square alongside his family on Monday shortly before 9 a.m. local time.
Inauguration events kicked off on Saturday, when the former and future president returned to Washington. He, along with Vice President-elect JD Vance, have been feted in receptions and a victory rally.
They will be sworn into office by noon Monday, forced into a Capitol Rotunda ceremony by bitterly cold weather.
