It has been a busy Thursday on Capitol Hill, with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy meeting with House and Senate Republicans about their Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as the saga of the House Ethics Committee’s investigation into former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) reaches its final act.
This morning, the House task force investigating the assassination attempt against Trump also met, spiraling into a shouting match between a Republican lawmaker and the acting Secret Service director.
Pete Hegseth, President-elect Trump’s pick to lead the Pentagon, is on Capitol Hill again trying to salvage his nomination, as his confirmation prospects look bleak. Hegseth spent Wednesday vowing to continue fighting and launching a media blitz to defend himself against accusations of sexual misconduct, excessive drinking and unprofessional behavior.
