(NewsNation) — Giant pandas Bao Li and Qing Bao will make their public debut at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C, on Friday morning in time for the Lunar New Year.
From Jan. 25 to Feb. 9, the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute will host a public celebration, including a Lunar New Year event.
For those who can’t visit in person, the zoo relaunched its Giant Panda Cam.
On Friday, Jan. 24, NewsNation will livestream the debut of Bao Li (pronounced bow-lee) and Qing Bao (ching-bow) at 7:30 a.m. ET.
The 3-year-old pair were transported in October last year as the first pandas to arrive in D.C. in 24 years. The previous pair of pandas were sent back to China in November 2023.
