Many Angelenos appear to be unaware of an inexpensive rideshare program that can get you around Los Angeles County at a much lower rate than some of the better-known companies.

Metro Micro offers on-demand rideshare service within eight designated zones within Los Angeles County for a base rate of $2.50, according to the Metro website. There are additional small charges for some transfers.
“The app update rolled out, yet it sits at only 16 reviews and a 1.9-star rating. That means most people in L.A. have no idea this even exists,” the L.A. Mission post went on to say.
But the program does exist. In fact, Metro Micro was introduced more than four years ago as part of a makeover of Metro’s bus network.
“Metro Micro is an on-demand shared ride service using vans for short trips within designated service zones in Los Angeles County,” Metro said when introducing the service.
The program has expanded over time with service currently available in the following eight zones: Watts/Compton, LAX/Inglewood, North Hollywood/Burbank, El Monte, Highland Park/Eagle Rock/Glendale, Altadena/Pasadena/Sierra Madre, Northwest San Fernando Valley and UCLA/Westwood/VA Medical Center.
Metro Micro vehicles do not accept cash payments on board but offer two ways to pay.

- Pay on board with TAP
Metro reminded travelers using TAP that each rider must have their own card.
