Charges were pending after four people and a shooter were wounded during a shootout Friday night inside a Southwest Side liquor store, Chicago police said.

The incident at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Goldmore Food and Liquors, 1949 W. 51st St. in the New City neighborhood, was one of three shootings Friday night on the Southwest Side.

Several people were inside the liquor store when an argument erupted between two groups, police said. Then a 22-year-old woman pulled a handgun and fired shots before a male with her also pulled a gun and fired shots at the victims, according to police.

One of the victims, a male, returned fire, apparently striking the female shooter, who suffered a gunshot to the heel of her foot and her thigh, police said. The gunman with her fled the scene.

The shooting critically injured two men, ages 22 and 48. The older victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, while the younger man was taken to Stroger Hospital. Two others, a 61-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man, suffered minor wounds.

Police took the female shooter into custody and said charges were pending.

By 9 p.m., at least eight shell casings lay on the sidewalk outside the store, near the intersection of West 51st Street and South Damen Avenue. A door to the store was propped open, showing bottles of soda on a wet floor while a group of onlookers huddled around a white SUV.

As detectives and other officers collected evidence at the store, gunfire sounded to the east around 9:40 p.m. District tactical officers guarding the store’s doorway sprinted into a nearby squad car. At Cornell Square Park, a quarter-mile down West 51st Street, they found a man shot in the leg. The man, 25, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

About 20 minutes before the store shootout, a 29-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting while standing on the 4700 block of South Paulina Avenue. Someone in a black sedan fired multiple times and left the man with a gunshot wound to the left thigh, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

No one was in custody for the other two shootings.
