A major announcement on June 26, which Disney buffs know as 626 Day. It references Experiment 626, the formal name for the fictional character Stitch from the hit movie “Lilo & Stitch.”
The day comes with a big announcement for fans of the franchise. Disney revealed a sequel to the live-action film, which hit theaters this summer.
The first film has grossed nearly $1 billion at the global box office since hitting theaters on Memorial Day weekend. It stars Maia Kealoha as young Lilo alongside actors Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis.
The 2025 film is a live-action reimagination of the 2002 animated Disney classic.
While it’s not known who will be involved in the sequel, it is officially in development.
