Nicole Kidman has a side that fans might be surprised about, according to Liev Schreiber.
“I got things from Nicole Kidman that I had no idea existed,” Schreiber, 56, admitted of his Perfect Couple costar this week on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham.
The actor explained that Kidman, 57, “really exudes grace and elegance and authority and all these things,” joking in addition, “I’m here to tell you that I have never met anyone so quick to be inappropriate on a set than Nicole.”
“She was just coming up with some of the biggest doozies,” Schreiber went on. “One day, they will release the outtakes from this show and all of our improvs, preferably one day after we’re all dead, and you’ll see some extraordinary Nicole Kidman footage. It was really fun.”
Schreiber told hosts Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham that even though he and Kidman have “been friends for years,” he’d “never really imagined us working together” before The Perfect Couple.
“I didn’t think it would happen, so it was one of the great surprises of doing this gig and finding out about it,” added the actor.
Based on New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand‘s novel of the same name, The Perfect Couple transports viewers to Nantucket, Massachusetts, where the Winburys are hosting a lavish family wedding at their seaside estate, Summerland.
Things take a dark turn when a body washes up on the property just hours before the bride and groom are to say, “I do.” Suddenly, the quintessential family is swept up in a murder investigation — and everyone is a suspect.
Aside from Kidman and Schreiber, the cast includes Dakota Fanning, Eve Hewson, Sam Nivola, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Jack Reynor, Ishaan Khatter, Mia Isaac, Michael Beach, Donna Lynne Champlin and Isabelle Adjani.

While promoting the Netflix limited series, Kidman and Schreiber told Entertainment Tonight about their reactions to being cast together as Mr. and Mrs. Winbury, with the actress joking that she had to “beg” Schreiber to marry her.
The Ray Donovan actor, meanwhile, said he “heard a story” that Kidman asked her close friend Naomi Watts, who is also Schreiber’s ex, “if it was okay” for her to do the role. After Kidman confirmed that she did, Schreiber replied, “Isn’t that amazing? That’s how close they are.”

Watts, 55, confirmed herself that the Big Little Lies star did get in touch with her about her role opposite Schreiber in The Perfect Couple.
“We always check in; we’re besties,” Watts told Entertainment Weekly during the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting The Friend. “That was very kind of her to do that.”
The Perfect Couple is now streaming on Netflix.
