LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Liberty University is going to the Bahamas to play in its sixth consecutive bowl game on January 4.
In an announcement made on December 5, the Flames will end the 2024 season against the Buffalo Bulls in the Bahamas Bowl. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 from Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau with a kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. EST.
After finishing their regular season 8-3 and 5-3 in Conference USA, this will be the Liberty University’s sixth bowl since becoming eligible in 2019. Buffalo ended their regular season with an 8-4 record and was 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference.
With a 3-2 bowl game record, Liberty is heading to the Bahamas looking for another win.
The Flames won their first three bowl games with back-to-back wins in the 2019 Cure Bowl against Georgia Southern and in 2020 against Coastal Carolina, followed by another victory against Eastern Michigan in the 2021 LendingTree Bowl. Liberty then lost to Toledo in the 2022 Boca Raton Bowl.
In 2023, the Flames earned their first-ever New Year’s Six bowl game against No. 8 Oregon in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
