A JUDGE accused of being Left-leaning after deciding migrants can remain in an Essex hotel is at the centre of another controversial asylum seeker case.

Lord Justice Bean was one of three Court of Appeal judges who ruled asylum seekers can stay in The Bell Hotel in Epping, despite protests.

And the latest test case could block eviction from accommodation even if asylum seekers have been ordered to leave.

Three migrants from India, Hong Kong and Sudan had accommodation removed after their asylum applications were withdrawn.

Each launched an appeal.

In July 2024, the Home Office was told to reconsider each case.

The Home Office applied for a Judicial Review, which was rejected.

The latest judgment was an attempt to appeal against that decision.

But Justice Bean and two others ruled against the Home Office.

His ruling in the Epping case came after protests erupted outside the site after resident Hadush Kebatu was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

He has since been deported to Ethiopia after being mistakenly released from prison sparking a manhunt.
