LeBron James has been sidelined due to a groin injury he suffered during Saturday night’s loss to the Boston Celtics, according to reports.
ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania confirmed the news Sunday morning, stating that James, 40, would be waiting at least 24 hours for the injury to “calm down” before receiving another evaluation.
He is expected to miss at least a week and may miss two weeks due to the injury, Charania reported.
LeBron, who became the first player in NBA history to score 50,000 combined regular season and playoff points on Tuesday, played 34 minutes in the 111-101 loss at Boston, finishing one assist shy of a triple double. His new superstar point guard, Luka Doncic, had 34 points.
As of Sunday, the Lakers (40-22) sit 3rd in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (52-11) and just half a game behind the Denver Nuggets (41-22).
