The Los Angeles Lakers will officially introduce its newest superstar Luka Dončić to fans during a news conference Tuesday morning.
The Dallas Mavericks traded Dončić to the Lakers for 10-time all-star Anthony Davis, who won a championship with Los Angeles in 2020, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round draft pick. The Lakers also acquired Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris as part of the deal.
“Yes, it really happened. Welcome to Los Angeles, Luka,” the Lakers posted on X after the trade was announced Sunday.
Dončić will have a chance to talk to L.A. fans directly for the first time during Tuesday’s news conference at 9 a.m.
The 25-year-old Dončić, a 5-time NBA all-star who reached the finals in 2024, is expected to be the cornerstone of the storied Lakers franchise for years to come.
Davis took to Instagram Monday to say goodbye and posted a video highlighting his time with the Lakers.
“6 years ago, I came here with the vision to win a Championship, and I will never forget the moment we did! The business of basketball is a business just like all other businesses… I am grateful to the city where my first ring came from, grew my family and friendships and I will always have a home here,” a portion of Davis’ statement read.
Both players were recovering from injuries at the time of the trade. It remains unclear when Dončić will play his first game as a Laker.
