Firefighters from Station 79 in Coachella were “feline the heat” when they were called on to rescue a kitten trapped in the undercarriage of a car Thursday, officials said.
“A concerned citizen drove in, reporting mysterious meows coming from their engine,” the post on Facebook from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department (RCFD) reads.
Firefighter Lucido, Firefighter Ippolito, Fire Apparatus Engineer Calderon, and Fire Apparatus Engineer Zapotocky scoured the vehicle until they located the “little fluffball” tucked deep inside the undercarriage.
“Despite the scorching temps 🌡️, this tough kitten clawed its way to survival,” Cal Fire/RCFD stated.
The afternoon high in Coachella topped out in excess of 100 degrees on Thursday.
The kitten was later handed over to animal control personnel for further care.
“Just another day in the life of our purrfessionals. 🧯🐾,” the post concluded.
