KIIS FM radio star Kip Wightman and partner Nyomie Essa welcomed their baby daughter one month early on Tuesday morning at St Martin’s Hospital in Brisbane.

The KIIS 97.3 breakfast show host, who was expecting a July baby, was caught by surprise when Nyomie’s water broke at home on Monday night.

Despite not yet having a name, Kip was overjoyed to announce Wednesday on Robin & Kip their bub was born at 8:27am via caesarean section, weighing 2.33kg.

‘We are so happy. We were going to be happy with anything, but we really wanted a girl, so we are absolutely thrilled,’ Kip told co-host Robin Bailey.

‘I broke down, I cried. I was just absolutely so excited. Once we knew she was okay, it was just this huge flood of relief and happiness.’

Kip announced he and Nyomie were expecting to welcome a baby back in January.

He shared the exciting news with co-host Robin and their listeners during an on-air segment as part of Robin & Kip’s Lie Detector.

Kip was testing out new lie detecting technology that uses eye movement to detect whether someone is telling the truth or not.

During the test, he was asked whether he would like to have more children but the results indicated he was ‘pensive’.

‘The reason that there was a high cognitive load was because Nyomie is pregnant,’ Kip told Robin.

Robin jumped up and down with excitement before running over towards Kip and embracing him.

‘That’s so exciting. I’m so happy for you. This is the best thing ever!’ she said.

Kip started dating Nyomie following his split from his wife Amber Preiksa in 2021 after four years of marriage.

The couple had tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their four-year-old son Rafael in 2019.

In October, Kip broke down while discussing sharing custody of his son Rafael with his ex-wife Amber.
