Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine’s home renovations are finally taking shape after years of planning and construction.

The Today show co-host, 51, and his shoe designer wife, 41, are building a $4.5 million luxury mansion in Castlecrag, 9km north of Sydney‘s CBD, after a major win in court in March 2024.

Photos captured this week show what was once a 1960s brick house slowly transforming into a dramatic three-storey abode.

They appear to have completely pushed the house further back into the backyard, which once contained a spa and gazebo, meaning they will have very little outdoor space.

This time last year, the property was a pile of rubble as the couple completely demolished the existing humble house to make way for their new and improved mansion.

It looks like renovations still have a long way to go before the final product is habitable for the couple and their five-year-old daughter, Harper.

Meanwhile, by December 2024, the knock-down was well and truly underway, with the roof removed and several internal walls demolished while the brick exterior remained.

Karl and Jasmine purchased the property in 2021 for $3.2 million.

The couple, who married in 2018, vacated the property in July 2024 and were seen removing small items from their family home.

Their plans for their new property include four levels with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a pool and a spa.

Other highlights for the proposed rebuild include a courtyard, entertainment room and three-car garage.

Karl and Jasmine finally got approval from Willoughby Council to move forward with their renovation after a lengthy wrangle over their original development application that lasted a year.

After a two-day hearing in 2023, the Land and Environment Court found in favour of the celebrity couple, reported the Daily Telegraph.

The decision came after Stefanovic first lodged a DA with the council in March 2023.

Neighbours responded to the pair’s plans with a series of concerns, including ‘loss of views’ and glare from solar panels.

The celebrity couple’s legal team stated that the renovation ‘generally complied’ with the planning laws set out by Willoughby Council.

However, it did not comply with floor plan space ratio controls consistent with local planning regulations.

The original application revealed that the plans included creating 102 square metres of living space below ground level.

Originally built in the 1960s, the initial home boasted views over Castlecrag’s north escarpment and included a self-contained unit with a separate entry and its own bathroom.

A design sketch shows the finished property will feature a stunning contemporary design, spacious surroundings, French windows and an indoor circular staircase.

It will also boast a stylish outdoor dining terrace with adjacent stairs and a host of gorgeous architectural touches, like high ceilings and slanted windows.

A sprawling garden display across the length of the house will also be included, and will be the perfect place for Karl and his wife Jasmine to raise their young daughter.

Karl and Jasmine, along with their children, divide their time between Sydney and Queensland.

As well as Harper, Karl also has three older children – Jackson, 26, Willow, 20, and River, 19 – from his marriage to Cassandra Thorburn.

Jasmine’s family are based in the Sunshine State, while Karl began his journalism career there.

The couple married in December 2018 in San José del Cabo, Mexico.
