Veteran talent agent Judy Page, whose clients included Penny Johnson Jerald and CCH Pounder, died Feb. 24 at Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles after a brief illness. She was 76.
Page was a talent agent for Susan Smith & Associates for 18 years. After the firm closed, she became vice president of Mitchell K. Stubbs & Associates agency before retiring in 2018.
Born in Columbus, Page was raised by her father and her aunt, who she called “mama.” She attended Ohio State University and worked for the state for several years before moving to Los Angeles. She told her dad she had landed in Beverly Hills, failing to mention that she was actually living out of her car for a few weeks while parked in the 90210 zip code.
Soon afterwards, Page landed her first job in the industry, working for publicist Ronni Chasen. She then went on to work at Warner Bros. in the casting department’s secretarial pool. Eventually, she caught the eye of casting director Marion Dougherty, who hired Page permanently.
After many years at the studio, Page segued to the other side of the desk to become an agent.
Page is survived by a brother, Sam Lee Mattison and sister Sheri Foster, as well as her Los Angeles “family” that includes Malaika Mason, Sherry Bettis, Mark Armstrong, Mitchell Stubbs, Richard Hoffman, Hal Williams, Johnson Jerald and Pounder, among many others.
