John Blackwell had 30 points, as host Wisconsin rolled past in-state rival Marquette 96-76 in a nonconference matchup on Saturday in Madison, Wis.

Wisconsin (7-2) opened a double-digit lead with 8 1/2 minutes left in the first half and led the rest of the way to improve to 6-0 at home.

Andrew Rohde scored 17 points. Nolan Winter had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Aleksas Bieliauskas added 11 points and 10 rebounds, as Wisconsin pounded Marquette on the boards, 46-33.

The Badgers led 43-31 at the break and extended it 60-43 on two free throws by Nick Boyd with just over 14 minutes remaining.

Blackwell’s 3-pointer from the right corner put Wisconsin up 78-56 with just over eight minutes left.

Blackwell, a junior guard who reached 1,000 career points in his previous game, hit 8 of 17 shots, including 6 of 12 from deep. The junior guard has 86 points over his last three games.

Boyd, a graduate transfer from San Diego State who also played on Florida Atlantic’s 2023 Final Four team, added 15 points and four assists.

Wisconsin was 14 of 33 from 3-point range, while the Golden Eagles were 9 of 29.

Marquette did get to the free-throw line but was just 9 of 19. Wisconsin was an efficient 24 of 29 from the line.

The Golden Eagles forced 12 turnovers but converted them into just nine points.

Wisconsin gained control early with a 15-7 run, going in front 21-9 on a 3-pointer by Winter.
