Joey King showed off her naturally long natural locks at Disney’s FYC event held at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles on Saturday – one week after fooling fans into thinking she cut her hair into a short bob at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
‘We used a high-quality, waist-length wig for the transformation,’ hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos revealed to People last Friday.
‘By cutting and styling the wig into a sleek bob, we achieved the dramatic change without any permanent commitment. It’s all about versatility and playing with different looks.’
Hairstylist Rena Calhoun gave the 24-year-old Emmy nominee’s dark-rooted mane a wet slicked-back look for the industry event, and she wore a collared Alessandro Vigilante crop-top and matching trousers selected by stylist Jared Eng.
Make-up artist Allan Avendaño applied white winged eyeliner on Joey – who accessorized her all-white outfit with a Patou clutch as well as jewelry from DJULA, Simone, and My Dearest World.

King was vying for Emmy gold by discussing her new Hulu series We Were the Lucky Ones with her onscreen mother from Hulu’s The Act, Oscar winner Patricia Arquette.
It was on the Georgia set of Nick Antosca and Michelle Dean’s critically-acclaimed 2019 biopic on Gypsy Rose Blanchard where the former child star first met her husband of nine months, Steven Piet.
At 40, the News & Documentary Emmy-nominated DP is 16 years older than Joey, who employs him as her personal photographer on social media.
Steven’s last IMDb-credited gig was directing two episodes of Peacock’s A Friend of the Family, which aired in 2022.
King portrayed Jewish lab assistant Halina Kurc in Erica Lipez’s critically-acclaimed limited series We Were the Lucky Ones, which premiered March 28 on Hulu.
The eight-episode adaptation of Georgia Hunter’s 2017 novel about a Jewish family determined to survive and reunite after being separated in World War II.
‘It’s a beautiful story. I love Georgia Hunter’s book so much and I found it to be so compelling. I’m of Jewish background. And it’s very special to be able to find material that you feel so connected to,’ the L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador said in her Natural Diamonds cover story.
‘Because the best part about what we do is that we play characters and a lot of those times we don’t have anything in common with those characters and that’s really cool because you have to really just pretend fully. But then it’s very rare to find something that you actually have a connection of some kind to, that makes you feel so much in your heart and soul.

‘This was a challenging role, so challenging to dive into this material and become this person and do the dialect work and also the emotional nature of these scenes. It’s also so special to have that connection even though this role was so hard. But when you feel that personal tie, the way you get into character is so emotional and so immersive.’
