Jennifer Lopez has seemingly broken her silence for the first time since she filed to divorce her estranged husband Ben Affleck on Tuesday.
The 55-year-old singer posted to her Instagram Stories on Friday, though fans hoping to details on her mental state or her split from the 52-year-old actor were likely disappointed.
Rather than sharing new content, JLo reposted a selfie she previously took that had been shared by a fan account.
The particular post was a bit of a head scratcher, as it appeared to be from a photoshoot from December 2020, according to People.
Jennifer looked as glamorous as ever in the throwback photo, which showed her sporting thick, caramel-colored curls cascading down her shoulders and chest.
Jennifer Lopez has seemingly broken her silence on Friday by reposting a selfie from a fan account. It was her first social media post since filing to divorce Ben Affleck on Tuesday on the two-year anniversary of their second wedding ceremony
The picture appeared to be from December 2020 — predating her second romance with Ben — and it featured a Christmas tree in the background
She was dressed in a fuzzy pale pink fleece jacket to suit the colder weather, and a Christmas tree could be seen peeking out in the back corner, confirming that the snap was taken around the holiday.
Aside from the post, which Jennifer shared without comment or context, she has remained silent since filing for divorce.
Notably, Jennifer filed the paperwork herself, and she did not have an attorney listed as representing her, though she may have an attorney listed in the future.
She cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce filing.
Although she was the one to file, and Ben appears to have opted not to do so, Us Weekly reported on Friday that he was allegedly well aware of her plans.
According to an insider, the estranged couple had ‘already agreed to these terms before she filed.’
They said the two had ‘had gone through all the details’ of the filing in advance, describe it as a ‘planned’ event, rather than a filing designed to take Ben by surprise.
‘JLo finally pulled the trigger because that was their agreement that she would file, and she was the one who ultimately made the decision,’ the source added.
The reporting is largely in line with the couple’s decision to fake a healthy marriage for months with occasional public outings together, despite having already split behind the scenes.
The source noted that both parties ‘came in with significant assets of their own,’ so they allegedly don’t plan to fight over their wealth, leaving their massive Beverly Hills mansion as their only significant shared property that needs to be sold off.
Accordingly, Jennifer requested no spousal support from her ex, and she asked the court to deny it for Ben.
The divorce attorney Chris Melcher told Us Weekly that, although a prenuptial agreement wasn’t mentioned in Jennifer’s divorce filing, that doesn’t mean that the two did not have one in effect.

Jennifer requested no spousal support and asked the court to also deny it for Ben. She cited irreconcilable differences and said they separated on April 26; seen with JLo in December in LA
‘There’s no requirement to mention if you have a prenup or not,’ Melcher, who has not connection to Lopez or Affleck’s legal affairs, said. ‘I wouldn’t take an inference that she has none just because it’s not mentioned.’
He added that divorce forms in California, where JLo filed, don’t even have a box to indicate the presence of a prenup.
She listed the date of their separation as April 26.
Jennifer and Ben were married in an intimate ceremony on July 16, 2022, but they later tied the knot a second time for family and friend at Ben’s estate in South Carolina on August 20, 2022 — two years to the day before she filed for divorce.
