Jamie Foxx got emotional as he returned to the stage earlier this month, following a hospitalization in 2023 for an unspecified medical emergency.
The 56-year-old Oscar winner took to Instagram on Monday to share a heartfelt carousel of photos from the one-man show, One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx, which he performed in Atlanta for an upcoming Netflix special.
One powerful image captures the Django Unchained star on stage, microphone in hand, wiping away tears with his sleeve. Another photo shows him warmly embracing a fan after stepping off stage to connect with the audience.
A third snapshot features Foxx standing proudly behind his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, as she plays guitar, showcasing their special bond.
‘God is good… As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy,’ he wrote, expressing his deep gratitude for the moment.

He continued: ‘On October 3 fourth and fifth I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta Georgia.
‘I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were.
‘When people ask me is this a stand up comedy show I say no it’s an artistic explanation. Of some thing that went terribly wrong, but thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most…’
The heartfelt Instagram post came just hours after Jamie celebrated Anelise’s birthday with a lively dinner at the celebrity hotspot Mr. Chow’s in Beverly Hills.
Foxx shares Anelise with his ex-girlfriend Kristin Grannis and is also the proud father of his older daughter, Corinne, 30, from his relationship with ex-Connie Kline.
Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop, has been gradually returning to work after facing the mystery health crisis in April 2023, which put him in a ’20-day coma.’
At that time, his eldest daughter, Corinne, took to social media to inform fans that her dad had ‘experienced a medical complication’ the day before but reassured everyone that ‘due to quick action and great care, he [was] already on his way to recovery.’
Fast forward to April 2024, and Foxx shared with a group in downtown Phoenix that he was hospitalized after taking Advil for a ‘bad headache.’

‘I was gone for 20 days,’ he revealed, adding that he doesn’t ‘remember anything’ from that time.
In December 2023 Foxx revealed he ‘saw the tunnel but not the light’ as he opened up about his near-death experience during his first public appearance since his shock health scare at the Critics Choice Association’s event.
The actor was visibly moved as he accepted the Vanguard Award in a 12 minute speech at the association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles
Foxx admitted that he could not ‘walk’ six months earlier, though he refrained from revealing too many details about the medical crisis that put him in the hospital.
‘You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago,’ he said after strutting across the stage to the microphone. ‘I couldn’t actually walk.’
‘I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things,’ he said to thunderous applause.
‘I cherish every single minute now — it’s different,’ he continued. ‘I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over … when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light.
‘It was hot in that tunnel too, I don’t know where I was going. ‘S**t, am I going to the right place?’”
In his 12-minute speech, he also made light of some of the baseless conspiracy theories that spread while he was hospitalized and then out of the public eye for several months.
‘I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were,’ he added

‘I’m not a clone, I’m not a clone. I know a lot of people who was saying I was cloned out there.’
‘I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art,’ he added toward the end of his speech.
While he has yet to disclose the specifics of his health emergency, Foxx has resumed his work as the host of Beat Shazam alongside Corinne.
He also had the honor of walking her down the aisle at her wedding to Joe Hooten last month.
