Jack Whitehall joked about his partner Roxy Horner‘s diabetes diagnosis during a recent stand up routine.
The model and actress, 32, revealed that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 2021 and now the comedian has revealed how she discovered she suffered with the condition.
Sharing a clip of a recent routine in light of Diabetes Awareness Week, the comedian joked that it was ‘coincidental timing’ that Roxy happened to have a diabetic hyper and faint during Harry Styles performance at the Brits back in 2021.
The star teased that there were ‘a few raised eyebrows’ after she passed out, as Jack suggested perhaps she was just experiencing a ‘watermelon sugar high’ as he referenced one of the singer’s hits.
A hyper, also called hyperglycemia, is a low blood sugar level, and happens when the level of sugar (glucose) in blood drops too low.

Recounting the incident, Jack began: ‘She warned me in advance my when we first stared going out, she said “I need to let you know in advance I get really bad PMS, like really bad, like five or six times a month.”
‘And I was like “I am not a doctor, but I think that might be something else?”.
‘Anyway turns out it actually was something else because all this time she had undiagnosed diabetes and that was the cause of this.’
‘Bizarrely it was the night that I was hosting the Brit Awards at the O2 arena is where she got it.’
Correcting himself he laughed: ‘Not got it, she didn’t get it as it’s not contagious. She wasn’t bitten by another diabetic that mistook her for a life size Jelly baby
‘No, the night of the Brits we found out she had diabetes as that night she had a diabetic hyper and she passed out.’
He then revealed: ‘She fainted halfway through Harry Styles performance. Yes I am aware that is quite coincidental timing. Don’t worry there was a few raised eyebrows, not least from me.
‘The paramedic backstage trying to resuscitate her “Omg her blood sugar levels are spiking dangerously?”

He joked: ‘I was like “are you sure this isn’t just a watermelon sugar high?” because to be honest I was experiencing quite a lot of the symptoms of a diabetic hyper when I was watching Harry Styles perform as well’
Raising awareness for the condition, Jack also asked if there was anyone with diabetics in the audience as he encouraged: ‘Woo wave your insulin pens in the air like you just don’t care!’

Since her diagnosis, Roxy has shared candid snaps of herself using her insulin pen and has confessed some days ‘are harder than others’ when managing the illness.
People who struggle with diabetes need daily injections of insulin to keep your blood glucose levels under control.
A low blood sugar level can be dangerous and cause brain death if it’s not treated quickly.
Roxy now wears an electronic device which monitors her blood glucose level and sends a message and alarm to her and others phones when it is dangerously low.
Supporting his partner, Jack penned: ‘It’s #diabetesawareness week. My incredible partner @roxyhorner has had Diabetes now for a couple of years.’

He continued: ‘I have been so in awe of her and how well she deals with it, even more so now she is a mum. It’s not easy and she is constantly having to deal with tricky days and the various challenges diabetes seems to constantly throw up.
‘I have so much admiration and respect for how she takes it all in her stride and for everyone out there that is living with Diabetes and not letting it hold them back.
‘So big shout out to all the Diabetics. Here’s a clip of me raising awareness (sort of?).’
Responding to the clip, Roxy gushed: ‘I’m so blessed to have you by my side xxx’.
Roxy previously admitted to having a ‘rough time’ with the condition as she struggled to handle her glucose levels.
Opening up to her Instagram followers, she explained: ‘I’ve been having a really rough time managing my glucose levels the past few weeks, they are yo-yoing for absolutely no reason.
‘I throw up when I go too high and I’ve had a few too many hypos for my liking lately.
