A MAN who was struck by lightning twice claims he can now predict future storms ahead of weather forecasts.
Danny Devine, 66 and from Kentucky, was celebrating his grandson’s birthday when he was first struck by a thunderbolt in 2007.
He was outside his house, hosting a pool party, when a storm began brewing in the sky.
The dad asked his friends and family to go inside and while he was shutting the garage door, he was struck by lightning.
Danny was rushed to the hospital, where he woke up with no memory of what happened to him.
And it took three years for him to regain his full memory.
However, Danny was struck again by a thunderbolt in 2023 – this time inside his house.
While this time, Danny did not require any medical care, something inside him changed forever.
The experience left him with a unique superpower – he’s now able to sense a storm before it arrives.
His wife Lisa told The Daily Mail: “He can feel the storm a few days beforehand.
“‘He tells me, ‘There’s a storm coming. ‘ He can tell if it’s a large or small storm.”
Danny explained he can tell if a storm is coming a day or two.
While experts say that lightning can temporarily change the polarity of one’s body, Danny claims his was changed “permanently”.
Lightning bolts typically carry 300million volts and heat the air to up to 30,000C and can strike ten miles from a thunderstorm.
It comes after an angler survived a terrifying lightning strike — on Friday the 13th.
Steve Barrett was left with a hole in his shoulder, broken ribs, severe burns and bruising when the 300-million-volt bolt zapped his carbon-fibre rod, snapping it in two.
He was hurled backwards by the impact, while a tree he was stood near was blown apart with splinters shattering van windows, puncturing a dinghy and tearing a hole in a tent.
Gardener Steve, who was knocked unconscious and had to be taken to hospital, said: “I’m lucky to be alive.
“I thought I was a goner, and the worst thing is I never even caught a carp.
“I felt this heat go down my left side, I was totally paralysed like having a severe stroke.
“Then I couldn’t feel my body.
“I felt elevated, my head was in the air.
“I thought that was it.
“I passed out but woke a few minutes later in severe pain from the heat and where I had landed on my rods and broken my ribs.”
Last year, a woman flatlined for 17 minutes after being struck by lightning – but survived the horrifying ordeal.
