ITV/BritBox Series ‘Code Of Silence’ Rounds Out Cast
EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis will be joined by the likes of Kieron Moore (Vampire Academy, Masters of the Air, The Corps), Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts, You)and and Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch, The Honourable Woman) in upcoming ITV and BritBox International crime drama Code of Silence. Nathan Armarkwei Laryea (The Witcher), Joe Absolom (Doc Martin), Beth Goddard (The Serpent Queen), Andrew Scarborough (Wolfblood), Fifi Garfield (Coffee Morning Club) and presenter Rolf Choutan in his acting debut have also been cast in the six-part show, which commenced shooting today. Code of Silence is told through the point of view of Alison Brooks (Ayling-Ellis), a Deaf canteen worker, who is pulled into a high-stakes police investigation when DS Ashleigh Francis (Ritchie) asks that she use her lip-reading skills to monitor a dangerous criminal gang. Mammoth Screen is producing, with the drama indie’s parent, ITV Studios, shopping the show internationally. It will debut in the UK on ITV1 and ITVX, and in the U.S. and Canada on BritBox in 2025.
Spain Named EFM Country In Focus
The European Film Market has named Spain as its Country In Focus for its 2025 edition. Each year a different country is selected to present work from its filmmakers at the industry market, which runs alongside the Berlin International Film Festival. “The Spanish film and media industry has solidified its reputation and global acclaim to become a European powerhouse thanks to creative excellence, targeted investments, and technological innovations, enjoying a strong international presence with high-quality content and originality,” said Berlinale Pro* Director Tanja Meissner. “The country offers competitive tax incentives, co-production agreements, and a strong industry infrastructure.” EFM runs from February 13-19, 2025.
Jesse Eisenberg Receiving Stockholm Achievement Award
Zombieland star Jesse Eisenberg is to receive the Stockholm International Film Festival (SIFF)’s Achievement Award. This will include an exclusive face-to-face chat with Eisenberg at Bio Skandia on November 14 and has been award to tie in with his new film, A Real Pain, which he stars in, directs and scripts. The pic, also starring Kieran Culkin, follows two cousins who travel to Poland to explore their origins after their beloved grandmother passes away. Digging into th family past causes old tensions to bubble to the surface. Previous recipients of the Stockholm prize include Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Rosanna Arquette and Ethan Hawke. “What a huge honor is it to join the list of recipients of the Stockholm Achievement Award,” said Eisenberg. “My movie, A Real Pain, is about my Polish ancestors and I know that some of them escaped to Sweden. What a wonderful treat to be able to finally visit the beautiful country and show this film to Swedish audiences.” SIFF runs from November 6-17.
Seven.One Studios International Builds Formats Team
Bernhard Sonnleitner has joined Seven.One Entertainment Group’s international formats team. The current VP, International Scouting & Brands is expanding his role at Seven.One Studios International. He look for third-party acquisitions and co-development opportunities, working closely with Seven.One International MD Tim Gerhartz and VP of Format Development and Production David Barber. Sonnleitner joined Seven.One parent ProSiebenSat.1 in 1998 and since 2010 has led its scouting and trends unit. He also organizes the bi-annual European Pitch award
